Knit and the City

So, April 1st is apparently Flash Your Stash Day - since I normally represent flashers, this is a nice change of pace, and a bit therapeutic.

I've already shared my thoughts on stash sometime last month, or maybe the month before, time flies - so, I won't bore you again. But, let me just say this - my stash is not a thing of beauty like many people's stash. If I love a particular yarn, I immediately cast on, and it quickly becomes something, or at least on it's way to something. If something sits around, it's not because I haven't found the right project, but that it was an ill-advised purchase. So, my stash pretty much breaks down as follows - a. in the project queue, b. yarn that might be used, c. yarn not likely to be used, and d. leftovers.

So, without further adieu . . .

I keep my yarn in three places:Next to the couch, for the things I have to get my hands on immediately:






















In a chest in the kitchen, generally containing the remainder of the yarn for the projects that are kept shmushed up next to the couch




















In the sweater bag, for projects in the queue, but not next to the couch. The yarn that will most likely not become anything, remains unprotected from moths in the rest of the closet .

And, I have some scraps, but mostly knitting books in a basket at the other end of the couch












Projects in the queue:



Sunrise Circle Jacket, Noro Silk Garden, estimated completion date: sometime next week.











Slip Stitch Cardigan from Vogue Knitting, Valley Farm Yarn, estimated completion date: As soon as I can bring myself to rip out the last 6 rows, where I forgot to start increasing, because the darn thing is so close to being finished. Now that the weather is changed, I have absolutely no motivation to touch this oh so heavy wool.













The Rowan Shrug - Rowan 4ply Tweed, I have about another inch to go before I begin the homestretch, the decreasing into the second sleeve. We'll see. I feel like it will get finished.








Andrea, the Bad Boyfriend Yarn, the Lacy Cardigan from Vogue Magazine. Sigh, I have not been loyal to Andrea at all. I did block the back, and on of the fronts, although I think they'll have to be reblocked because they've kind of unblocked. I don't like the way the front in progress looks, and I'm going to rip it out. Andrea will definitely get finished -- someday.


The Karabella Marble Shawl Collar Sweater. I bought this yarn because it was 30% off, and I had been coveting the sweater for quite some time. If I hadn't joined the Sunrise Circle Knit-A-Long, this probably would have been the first one out of the queue, but now it has dropped back because of the lace class, and the weather change. Things aren't looking to good for Karabella Marble for spring completion.

And, Kimono Shawl, in Great Adirondack Silk. Completion date - Mother's Day, definitely.




















The beautiful Zephyr-like lace yarn I got at Stitches, originally planned for Forest Path Stole, but I got nervous, not enough yardage. Then, I thought about it becoming Birch, or River, but I'm not sure. Time will tell, but become something it will.

And, so ends my definitely will see its way into my closet, or my mother's closet. Now, onto the maybes:

Rowan Fringe Cardigan, Rowan CashSoft. I started this while I was taking a crochet class, and I was a bit infatuated with the sleeves. That's all over, and completion of this project is suspect.













Knee Sock, Knitty Pattern, Blue Faced Leicester from Maryland Sheep and Wool. The worst case of one sock syndrome every. I'm facing the fact that it might never have a mate.














I totally forgot I had this project - a cotton lacy cardigan from Rowan, the yarn is Classic Elite. Now that it's back in the queue, it may get done, maybe













This is baby alpaca from Elann that a friend at work gave me because after she bought it, she found out she was allergic to it. It's not really my color, but it's nice yarn, and I intend to do something with it, just what, I'm not sure. Ok, well, I haven't really thought about it . . . but I will.

Rowan Dryer Lint - purchased to make a sock for my dad, but I hated the pattern - there was no heel, and I abandoned the project, never really liked the yarn anyway.
